18th Bradford South Queensbury Beavers
Who?
Our Beavers are aged 6 - 8yrs and come from all over the Queensbury area. When our Beavers reach their eighth birthday they begin their transition to our fantastic Cub Pack.
Where and when?
We meet at the HQ on Albert Crescent from 6.15pm-7.30pm on Wednesdays, term time only.
How much?
Subs are £12 per month, payable by cash or cheque at the first meeting of each month. This covers the cost of Capitation, Levy, badges and most activities and materials we use throughout the year.
What?
Beaver Scouts are the youngest section of the Scouting family. Our activities are based around making things, outdoor activities, singing, playing games, going out on visits, investigating nature, listening to stories, learning how to be safe and most importantly, making new friends.
A group of Beaver Scouts is called a Colony, and each Colony can be split up into smaller groups called Lodges. Our colony has four Lodges; red, blue, yellow and white. When a Beaver is invested they are presented with a coloured woggle to wear on their necker, to show which Lodge they belong to.
Beavers share the scouting motto with all other scouts: Be Prepared.
We have our own promise:
I promise to do my best
to be kind and helpful
and to love God.
Each year, we plan an exciting programme of activities including a sleepover and opportunities to meet up with Beavers from other Colonies at District events. During the summer months we like to get out and about, exploring the local area and visiting our District campsites at Blackhills and Bradley Wood for fun, games and some adventurous activities.
During their two years with us, Beavers will work towards six Challenge Awards and many of the 33 available Activity Badges, and ultimately will hopefully achieve their Chief Scout Bronze Award, the highest award in Beavers.
We have 5 dedicated and enthusiastic Leaders and a band of willing helpers who do everything in their power to make every Beaver's experience the best it can possibly be.
